On the evening of September 28, all first-year CFLC graduate students casted their ballots in the election of student officers for the Graduate Student Union of the 2018/2019 Academic Year.
The event was officiated by CFLC Youth League ecretary Yu Xuan and joined by CFLC Party Secretary Shen Lixiu and Graduate Student Counsellor Le Wuyang, as well as the heads of the graduate student unions of 10 peer colleges.
The event kicked off with a playing of the national anthem. Yang Wenya, member of the 28th XMU Graduate Committee, read out a congratulatory letter. The congratulatory letter fully affirmed the achievements made by the previous CFLC Graduate Student Union in student organization building, academic research, social application programs, voluntary service and campus culture. She also expressed her hopes that the new CFLC Graduates Student Union would continue to play an exemplary role in representing the graduate students at the College.
Miss Yang’s remarks were followed by a speech by the outgoing CFCL Graduate Student Union Deputy President Xiao Ningshuang. In her speech, she reviewed the achievements of her union in various areas, including character development, academic research, sports, social application programs and voluntary service.
A total of 48 candidates, all of whom were first- or second-year graduate students, ran for 10 positions at the CFLC Graduate Student Union. Each candidate made a speech laying out their plans for serving the graduate students if elected. They highlighted their experience, connections and vision to lead the students forward.
The CFLC Graduate Student Union provides an environment designed to encourage interaction among the campus groups, increase a sense of campus community, and expand the avenues through which the College educates its students. It is committed to providing high quality, convenient services and facilities that enhance the daily life of students, faculty, staff and community.
