XMU Joins the “Belt and Road” Languages and Cultures Network

Xiamen University has joined the inaugural “Belt and Road” Languages and Cultures Network, announced during a ceremony in Beijing on October 16. The event, held in conjunction with the 10th anniversary of the “Belt and Road” Initiative and the 3rd “Belt and Road” International Cooperation Summit Forum, featured a speech by Vice President Shi Dalin at the Roundtable on the “Belt and Road” and Internationalization in Universities and Colleges.


Vice President Shi highlighted Xiamen University’s rich maritime heritage and commitment to internationalization. He emphasized the importance of diversity and ecosystem in evaluating university internationalization, positioning the network as an opportunity, gateway, and platform for global dialogue and promotion of internationalization.


The “Belt and Road” Languages and Cultures Network, initiated by China Daily, aims to be a non-governmental international organization encompassing language education and cultural institutions related to the “Belt and Road” Initiative. The inaugural council includes nearly 60 language education and cultural organizations from over 50 countries. Xiamen University’s membership in the network will enhance communication, collaboration, and contribute to innovative talent development in foreign language education, cultural exchange, and the pursuit of a shared future.


Xiamen University’s participation in the network strengthens its connections with universities and organizations associated with the “Belt and Road,” further enhancing its contributions to language education and cultural understanding.
