Foundation of The Department of Foreign Languages and the English Major Program.


-1924

The Department of Foreign Literature is established.


-1952

The Russian Major is introduced.


-1961

The MA program for the English Major is approved.


-1972

The French major is introduced.


-1978
The Japanese major is introduced.


-1981

CFLC is one of the first pilot schools to enroll Master’s Level students majoring in English Language  and Literature.


-1985

The Department of Foreign Language is established.


-1993

English Language and Literature gains approval to become the college’s first Ph.D. program.


-1998

The MA program for Linguistics and Applied Linguistics is approved.


-1999

CLFC is established.


-2000

The Department of English Language and Literature is established.

The Department of Asian and European Language and Literature established.

The MA program for Japanese Language and Literature is approved.


-2003

The MA program for French Language and Literature is approved.


-2004

The Department of Japanese Language and Literature is established.


-2005The Department of Asian-European Languages and Literature was renamed as the Department of 

European Languages and Literature.


-2006

CFLC is granted a first-level MA program in Foreign Language and Literature.

The MA program for Russian Language and Literature is approved.

The Department of French Language and Literature is established.

The German Language and Literature major is established.


-2007

CFLC becomes one in the first batch of pilot colleges for the Master’s in Translation and Interpreting (MTI).


-2008

The English and Japanese majors are selected as specialty programs of Fujian Province.


-2009

The English major becomes a national-level specialty program.


-2010

The French major is selected as a specialty program of Fujian Province.


-2011

The CFLC is granted a first-level Ph.D. program in Foreign Language and Literature.


-2013

The Foreign Linguistics and Applied Linguistics.

The Japanese Major begins enrollment for doctoral students.


-2014

The Foreign Language and Literature program receives approval to set up a center for post-doctoral research.


-2015

The MA program for Spanish Language and Literature is approved.


-2017

The MA program for German Language and Literature is approved.


-2019

The English major is selected as a national-level first-class undergraduate program.


-2020

The Russian major is selected as a national-level first-class undergraduate program.


-2021

The Japanese major is selected as a national-level first-class undergraduate program.

The German major begins  enrollment for doctoral students.

The French major is selected as a first-class undergraduate program of Fujian Province.
