XMU Host International Organization Experience Week

From November 30 to December 4, Xiamen University hosted the 4th International Organization Experience Week. Esteemed experts and scholars attending the event to provide guidance included Liu Zhixian, former Vice President and Secretary-General of the United Nations Association of China, Wang Jiyuan, former Director of the National Bureau of Thailand, Cambodia, and Laos at the International Labor Organization, Chen Shaohua, former Chief Statistician at the World Bank Development Research Group, Guo Beisi, Director of Education Industry Development at Microsoft Greater China, and Cai Minggang, professor at Xiamen University’s College of Ocean and Earth Sciences.


The International Organization Experience Week featured various activities, such as expert lectures, meetings between students and professionals, and an international organization innovation competition. These activities aimed to help students understand international organizations, broaden their international perspectives, and enhance their skills. It provided a comprehensive platform for students interested in working in international organizations to gain knowledge, improve their abilities, and exchange ideas.


The opening ceremony of the 3rd Foreign Language and Literature Innovation Experimental Class and the opening ceremony of the International Organization Experience Week took place at CFLC. Liu Zhixian, Wang Ji-yuan, Chen Shaohua, Guo Beisi, and university officials attended the ceremony. During the event, speeches were delivered, including an explanation of the purpose and significance of the International Organization Experience activities, the commitment of CFLC to cultivating international organization talents, and the importance of nurturing high-quality, internationalized talents in response to global challenges.


Expert lectures were given by Wang Jiyuan, who focused on career development in international organizations, and by Cai Minggang, who discussed the harm caused by microplastics. Chen Shaohua delivered a lecture on careers in international organizations, while Liu Zhixian spoke about international organization diplomacy. Guo Beisi provided insights into APEC's development process and youth engagement. These lectures deepened students' understanding of international organizations and global issues.


The International Organization Student Innovation Competition finals took place, with 12 outstanding teams competing. The teams presented innovative projects related to APEC's sustainable development goals, showcasing their creativity and problem-solving abilities. Expert judges provided feedback and suggestions for improvement.
