Posted: 2023-03-24

On March 18, CFLC successfully hosted the Forum on Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Foreign Literature Research. Renowned experts, scholars, and journal editors from both domestic and international institutions converged at Xiamen University to explore the expansion of research in foreign literature from interdisciplinary perspectives.

The opening ceremony, chaired by Professor Chen Jing, Dean of CFLC, featured speeches by Professor Fang Ying, Assistant to the President of Xiamen University, and Professor Jiang Chengyong, Vice President of the Chinese Comparative Literature Association. They highlighted the significance of foreign language and literature studies in promoting cultural exchange and understanding.

The forum included keynote speeches and parallel sessions. Eight scholars delved into various topics, such as the works of F. Scott Fitzgerald and the material history of literature, emphasizing the importance of understanding foreign cultures within specific historical contexts and exploring the connections between language, art, and history.

Parallel sessions focused on modernist writers, postmodern theory, and ethnic minority literature. Professors shared their latest research findings and engaged in interdisciplinary discussions, providing valuable insights into the discipline's development and future directions.

During the closing ceremony, Professor Xu Qi, CPC Committee Party of CFLC, expressed gratitude to all participants and encouraged continued collaboration and interdisciplinary integration.

This successful forum marked the beginning of CFLCC’s New Century Series of High-level Academic Forums. CFLC plans to organize more events to showcase its academic achievements and contribute to the development of foreign language and literature disciplines with Chinese characteristics.

As CFLC approaches its centennial anniversary on April 8, the forum served as a platform to celebrate achievements and reflect on the college’s commitment to exploring new models and paths for the future development of foreign language and literature studies.
