CFLC Hosts Forum on National and Regional Studies

On April 29, CFLC successfully hosted the Forum on National and Regional Studies from the Perspective of Community, marking the conclusion of its New Century Series of High-level Academic Forums. The event, jointly organized by CFLC and the Center for Civilizational Exchange and Mutual Learning, aimed to explore important issues in national and regional studies and promote interdisciplinary innovation.


During the opening ceremony, Professor Chen Jing, Dean of CFLC, and Professor Fang Ying, Assistant to the President of Xiamen University, welcomed the experts and scholars in attendance. They highlighted the strategic and practical significance of national and regional studies and expressed their confidence in the success of the forum.


Six senior experts in regional and international relations research delivered keynote speeches, discussing topics such as the importance of language proficiency in regional studies, the intersection of foreign language studies and national and regional studies, and the contributions of cross-cultural dialogue to civilization. Their speeches provided valuable insights and set the direction for the future development of national and regional studies as an emerging interdisciplinary field.


Parallel thematic forums were also held, focusing on topics such as overseas Chinese studies, talent cultivation in national and regional studies from a diplomatic perspective, and global China. Renowned experts in migration research shared their insights on various cutting-edge issues related to overseas Chinese research.


The forum concluded with speeches by Professors Fan Jieping, Li Minghuan, and Liu Yue, who emphasized the importance of self-narratives in overseas Chinese studies and the tasks of national and regional studies in civilizational exchange and mutual learning.


The successful forum showcased the deep expertise and new developments in the field of foreign language education at Xiamen University. It provided a platform for high-level communication and cooperation among experts and scholars from around the world.


Moving forward, CFLC will continue its mission of promoting interdisciplinary integration and exploring new models for the development of foreign language disciplines. Through fostering academic exchange and achieving new milestones, CFLC aims to contribute to the establishment of a distinguished Chinese world-class university.
